Our Build Process

Build with us every step of the way…

Whatever your new home build venture, staying in the loop and keeping budget on track is essential from the beginning of the home design process to the completion of build.

We’ve had our heads in the building game for decades and are backed by an expert team of sales consultants, designers, project managers and support crew – who work with clients from brainstorming, to progress tracking, to handing over the keys.

Because we’re Registered Master Builders you can be assured your home isn’t just built to the highest of standards, it’s also protected by our guarantee – here’s how our building process plays out…

Step 1

Vision And Budget

Together we’ll sit down and at map out your design must-haves and budget figures. As part of this first discussion, we’ll outline the building process – timeframes from consultation to work completion – so everyone’s on the same page.

Step 2

Design Development

You’ll meet with a Penny Homes sales consultant and architectural designer, putting pen to paper to bring your home to life. This could be a design from scratch or working of our pre-designed plans – we’ll find your fit and all within budget.

Step 3

Contracts Ticked

With the design, price and building specifics in place, signing contractual documents get the thumbs up. We’ll meet to discuss our responsibilities to you, payment schedules, a process to deal with any variations, products and material specifications, and we’ll also prepare and lodge the building consent – and resource consent if required.

Step 4

Meet Everyone

You’ll be introduced to your Penny Homes project manager and project support person, who’ll be your go-to people throughout the building process – every day, every week, rain or shine.

Step 5

Get Colouring

Working with our colour consultant, you’ll bring your home interior and exterior to life – roof, doors, kitchen cabinetry, window joinery – it all happens here.

Step 6

Track Your Build

Communication with your building team and being a part of the building action – from foundations to framing, to cladding, to GIB stopping and painting – is essential. Using our secure access Buildertrend online portal, you’ll track your build, view photos, approve variations and important documentation, each step of the way.

Step 7

Inspect And Clean

With building works completed and final council inspection signed off, we’ll organise a specific date for handover and a professional house clean inside and out. On the day of moving, we’ll present you with keys and a home information pack.

Step 8

Stay Connected

It’s never goodbye from us, we’ll keep in touch to ensure you are enjoying your new home. This includes popping over for a courtesy catch up once you’re settled in, and in the first year, meet with you to sort any maintenance or items that require attention.The building process is a process but it doesn’t have to be hard work – let us do that!
